Booking Through Thursday

Booking Through Thursday:
Today’s suggestion is from Cereal Box Reader

I would enjoy reading a meme about people’s abandoned books. The books that you start but don’t finish say as much about you as the ones you actually read, sometimes because of the books themselves or because of the circumstances that prevent you from finishing. So . . . what books have you abandoned and why?

I don't have a history of abandoning books. I tend to be selective when choosing books, but even if I pick one that I don't necessarily like, I tend to finish it because there is always the chance that it will get better. I have found several books that dragged in the first half, but caught me in the middle and I was so glad that I persevered. I am struggling with a non-fiction book now. The story is good, but it is SLOW moving. Nothing to propel me, and I keep getting distracted, so for the first time I have temporarily left it and read 2 other books in 2 days. I am determined to finish this one, especially because it is part of a reading challenge. I normally only read one book at a time, but I think in this case I will have to read a chapter or two of this a day and then read something else in order to finish all of the books I have selected for this challenge in time.

Please feel free to leave the link to your post in the comments, if you participated, I would love to read your response. Also, don't forget to check back EVERY DAY next week for some amazing giveaways, currently over 15 different items, or subscribe me via email so you don't miss anything!

We're definitely birds of a feather when it comes to this Karen! This is eerily simliar to my answer this week, I just don't like to quit books either. Plus, I tend to choose books that I know I'll like :)

Happy Reading!

At any given time, I am reading 3 to 4 books. I tend to finish the interesting ones first and have to plod through non-fiction.

When reading non-fiction, I generally dip into it a chapter at a time and spend most of my time with my novels. I don't mind how long it takes to get through the non fiction and I have different expectations of nonfiction compared to novels.
